Honduras Juan Contreras Miraflores
Blackcurrant, Grapefruit, Vanilla
This is a coffee from Juan Contreras farm, located in the Los Flores municipality of the Santa Barbara department of Honduras and processed at the nearby St. Vincent plant
The plant, better known as the Beneficio San Vicente is run by Angel Arturo Paz, located in the Santa Barbara District, North of Lake Yojoa, Western Honduras. This established, well known plant purchases, processing and exporting coffee grown on small farms nearby. St. Vincent also frequently offers financial and technical assistance to local farmers to achieve the highest quality coffee. Many coffees processed here have repeatedly become the winner of Honduras COE competitions.
the Pacas variety originated in ElSalvador and widely grown there. It is less common in Honduras, where it was introduced by IHCAFE in 1974. A varietal that’s a natural mutation from the Bourbon hence carrying with it exceptional sweetness.
Roaster’s Notes:
As we continue to pursue sweetness in coffees that we source, this coffee is no exception. It’s unassuming first sip, while clean and smooth, opens up the palate to the real excitement in the subsequent sips. You will be immediately hit by a full mouthful of juicy blackcurrant acidity and syrupy vanilla sweetness. The true prize is at the end though – that lingering stickiness that will continue to keep the flavors at the back of the throat as well as retro-nasal.
