Panama Elida Gesha ASD
Sparkling Pineapple, Papaya, Lavendar
Elida Estate is located in the Volcan Baru National Park near Boquete. The farm is about 65 hectares (160 acres), 30 of which are planted with coffee trees; it produces about 400 60 kg bags annually. Elida coffee is grown at an altitude of between 5500 and 6000 feet above sea level, the highest level at which coffee is grown in Panama. In fact, Elida is one of the two highest coffee farms in Panama. Varietals grown are Catuai and Bourbon, with some Gesha planted within the past few years. Elida is a traditionally fully washed coffee, fermented in tanks and sun dried. The farm has been owned by the Lamastus family since 1918. Because of the very high elevations where the coffees are grown, coffee is slow to mature and later to ripen and be harvested.
Since then, the past few years have seen the Elida Estates dominating in the Best of Panama Auctions, constantly taking top placings and have driven ever higher quality of Geshas.
Roaster’s Notes:
This Natural Anaerobic Slow Dry process was the same process that took the top lot in BOP 2019 (Lot BOP-GNEP-01). In comparison to ASD done in other farms and origin where it tends to produce an overwhelming spice winey experience, you can distinctively tell the quality difference of this Elida with the ultra-clean cup as well as a very delicate control to make sure fermentation does not overtake the Gesha varietal’s flavors. Elida and the Lamastus family are one of the most prestigious origins in coffee and we are so proud to be able to get hold of this limited 2022 harvest and to share this beautiful coffee with all of you.
